Yes, it is indeed a deep struggle in those of who are called to help others when we see people with various addictions and that fact that they know the solution. We do not have to say much as they know the answer for the problem. Then often I cry out to God for His intervention.

Thank you for sharing the struggles of those in the helping profession. It is truly a great struggle, but God helps us.

I do appreciate the fact that there are people out there that the Lord has given a burden to for “all” souls. I find myself distancing from those who seem too far to connect, but as you said, I too do not have my “act together”. It is a challenge to see the suffering individual through Christ’s eye. This post should be a challenge to all of us. Thanks for sharing.

Joseph, thanks for sharing your thoughts and struggles. What you are talking about is certainly a change of perspective. That change happens as we consciously put ourselves in situations where we must deal with people with such struggles. So go ahead and find your place to connect and minister to such people. God is with you.

It seems that more often than not we get stuck in addictions or hurts in life due to unresolved traumas, hurts and failures. I have done my best to help several people who have been stuck in a destructive mindset and have seen little results. Recently we completed a study at our church using the book, “Living From the Heart Jesus gave You” and I have received much needed understanding as to what is needed to get all of us unstuck from our wounds. A healthy, caring community is vital to the healing process. There is nothing greater than the power of the cross but many have stayed in their hurt & confusion due to the lack of a faith filled, honest Christian community.

Twila,Thanks for your response. I agree with you – the cross makes all the difference, and God has asked us all to be that caring community that exhibits the love and compassion of Christ. Both are essential to helping someone to be free.
