Don’t mess with the weeds

It is a natural reaction to pull out weeds as soon as they come up. They suck up nutrients, and take up space that the crops need for growth. The only reasonable thing to do is to get rid of them.

After a few years in leadership, you begin to observe patterns in the lives of people around you. Unfortunately, some are toxic and totally unwilling to heed correction. Their presence among you won’t help them and simply harms others in the group. But Jesus warned us about being too quick to pull out weeds.

In the story, the servants asked the master if the weeds should be pulled out. “But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”

Thus Jesus said, Don’t mess with the weeds.
