They have a lot to say. They’re also quite opinionated and will quickly point out things that should be done better or differently. They also talk passionately about their calling.
But you ask them to get involved or do something in the church? “Sorry, it’s not time yet.” They’re “waiting on God.”
After a few months, you approach them again. Since you want to give people an opportunity for involvement you make another attempt. You believe in the idea that “everyone gets to play.” But again the answer is the same. “Waiting on God.”
Finally they disappear without any notice. After some inquiry you find out they found an opportunity someplace else. So much of my time was wasted. I suppose they belonged some place else in the first place.

If you work hard enough, you’ll get people to fill the chairs (at least some of them). But finding people who will step forward with a vision is an entirely different issue. These are people who stand with you through difficult times. They’ll share your vision and take bold steps to see it develop into reality.
Jesus made this happen in three steps. First, he prayed to the father, the Lord of the harvest, to send laborers into his harvest field. Second, he selected people to share his vision. Third, he authorized them to do the works required to fulfill his vision (Matthew 9:37-10:1).
They were not people who fully grasped his vision. The vision sort of “grew” on them as they lived, traveled, and worked with him. So, if you’re struggling to get people with vision, relax. Do like Jesus.
Pray, select, authorize.

…if you trust me. There is no better way to affirm trust in those you lead. Leave them alone to do what they’ve been asked to do.
If there is constant interference, or constant checking-in with them, there is a problem. They will surely interpret that you don’t trust them to do their job faithfully.
Trust breeds faithfulness. When they feel trusted in doing a particular task, they’ll be more focused and motivated. People want to be faithful. Trust them and leave them alone to do the task. Just hang around close by. In case they need help, they’ll call on you.

Vision germinates in the heart. It seems hearts that suffer pain will often be ignited with vision to help others in pain. Such vision will surely make an impact.
For many, their pain simply sets them on a lifelong journey of seeking relief for themselves. They may also become bitter in the process as they find their efforts are futile. Their efforts to find comfort simply takes them nowhere.
But when pain inspires vision and you begin to help others, you also begin to find comfort for yourself. People find more comfort in comforting others than when they set out to seek comfort for themselves.
What’s your pain? Find others in similar situations and reach out to them. Allow your pain to inspire vision to touch others.
Pain inspired vision seems to fly!

Is it possible to have everyone take on the responsibilities of Leaders? That was God’s plan in Exodus 19:6. The nation of Israel were to be a kingdom of priests.
Every individual as a priest. No one would have to be instructed regarding what they should and should not do. Each person takes responsibility for themselves.
Obedience is not forced. They obey just because that’s what’s within them. It’s the right thing you do. What else should a leader do?
Responsibility is everyone’s business. No one says “That’s not my job,” since everyone is a leader. It’s everyone’s job. It’s everyone’s responsibility. How else would leaders respond?

Never underestimate your own vision. It’s vital and gets you up and moving in the morning. Don’t sacrifice yours for anything.
Our vision keeps us together and working for a common purpose. Without a common vision, we’d be scattered without direction.
His (God’s) vision for us represents his purpose for our existence. Without it, we’d have no significance. Life would have no purpose.
Yours, ours and His vision must converge to produce greater results than you’d ever imagine.
Words like Convergence, synthesis, collaboration, and synergy come to mind in a special way. Imagine the beauty of combining your vision and our vision with the Divine vision.

A genuine desire to please God drives people to wear themselves out for God. But God is already pleased with you because you are his child.
There is a prevailing idea that the vision God placed in your heart will be left undone for eternity if you don’t do your maximum. Remember, if God has placed a vision in your heart, he also knows that you only have 24 hours in a day.
Some are convinced that the Kingdom of God advances according to the effort they put in. But God’s Spirit is already at work in this world and was active before we showed up. We simply have the privilege of joining him in his task.
Still others find significance in busyness. The more busy they are, the more useful and important. This is a subconscious, internal need that drives people to wear themselves out.
Moses sat to judge the people till the evening. This was the only solution he could find. He couldn’t think of it any other way. Until Jethro came and helped him to see things differently. (Exo 18:18)
For every person, there is a Jethro speaking sense into them. Only a few listen. Most ignore the message.
Please. Listen to this Jethro.

Move forward. Use every tool in your possession that will help you stay focused on your vision and to progress.
Don’t argue. Don’t say “after all I’ve done for you” to make them feel guilty. Making them feel guilty may make you feel good. But you just get stuck in emotions and arguments.
When his followers quarrelled with Moses, this is exactly what God told him to do. (Exodus 17:4-5)
Move forward. Stay focused on your vision.

On a recent travel, I counted the number of times people checked my boarding pass. As I stepped into the aircraft, the flight attendant was the 12th one to ask for my boarding pass. Why so many times?
Here are some possibilities why I had to show my boarding pass to 12 different people.- To be thorough. They want to make sure that the right person is entering the right flight.
- To be sure. They want to avoid unticketed passengers entering the flight.
- To provide more jobs. Now, this is certainly a good hearted effort on their part.
- Lack of trust. They don’t trust any of those 12 people to do their job properly. So, they want to cross-check to see where a mistake has occurred.
- Lower pay. If you have many people doing a job that one or two properly trained people could accomplish, you must not be paying them much.
- Lower skill. Due to the lower pay, you have employees at a lower skill strata.
I have two thoughts on this issue. First, the authorities want to make sure things are done appropriately. Second, there is a lack of trust in the employees to do their jobs efficiently.
How much do you invest in your people? Do all it takes to make them competent. Then hold them accountable. Expect quality.

“There is no need for appreciation – they’ve only done what they were paid to do.” Oh yes, I’ve worked under such leadership, and seen the results. Resentment, dissatisfaction, and sometimes, even rebellion are the results of such a perspective on leadership.
It may sound too simplistic, but when leaders bless the people, they are truly blessed. It impacts their mind, perspectives, and ultimately their work. The leader’s words of blessing flows through the people all the way into the final product.
Moses saw their work and recognized that they performed according to the Lord’s command – then Moses blessed them (Exodus 39:43). It is amazing to observe how the people followed Moses and followed through in response to his leadership. He was a leader who truly blessed the people.
